PETRONAS LNG, a subsidiary of PETRONAS, has signed a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with CNOOC Gas and Power Singapore Trading & Marketing.

Under the agreement, PETRONAS LNG will deliver one million tonnes per year (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

This deal represents a significant milestone in the companies’ long-standing collaboration, strengthening energy ties amid Asia’s changing gas landscape.

It is intended to bolster China’s economic development and advance its clean energy objectives, including the “Dual Carbon” goals.

China’s targets are to peak carbon emissions before 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2060.

PETRONAS LNG marketing and trading vice-president Shamsairi Ibrahim said: “This agreement marks an elevation of our relationship with CNOOC, advancing our shared commitment to energy security and a lower carbon future.

“Beyond supplying LNG, it reflects the continued development of our long-term partnership. PETRONAS remains committed to delivering reliable and cleaner LNG solutions, working with partners to advance shared energy transition goals.”

As Asia intensifies its shift toward cleaner energy, PETRONAS will keep supplying LNG from its established portfolio, bolstering its regional footprint and aiding the move toward lower‑carbon energy solutions.

Earlier in November, Petronas, via Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), formalised several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with international partners during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference 2025.

These collaborations will focus on advancing seismic imaging methods and integrating AI and machine learning, supported by high-performance computing.

The MoUs involve partners such as Beicip-Franlab, ConocoPhillips, Eliis, Microsoft, PTTEP, Shell, SLB, and TotalEnergies.

According to Petronas, integrating agentic AI and dynamic modelling will facilitate real-time data analysis, ongoing forecasting and decisive action in operations.
