Americas Petrogas has signed an agreement with Apache Energia Argentina to explore the Huacalera block in the western region of Argentina’s Neuquen Basin.
The block contains conventional gas and oil and has potential for unconventional gas from shale formations and tight reservoirs.
Under the terms of agreement Apache will carry Americas Petrogas in drilling a deep exploration well on the Huacalera block.
Apache will drill the well to a depth of about 4,100m.
The well will target the Mulichinco formation, the Tordillo formation and the Vaca Muerta formation.
Depending on successful testing of the well from various formations, Apache will also perform a 3D seismic programme over a 100km² area of the block.
