Mogul Energy International has begun drilling at Stafford Well #1 at the Stafford lease in Jackson County, Texas, US.
The well is permitted to a total depth of 7,400ft will test several potential intervals within the Frio formation.
The firm expects the drilling to total depth to be completed in eight days with targeted zones between 5,570ft and 7,350ft.
The firm also expects to test up to 12 potential oil saturated zones and two potential gas zones based on analysis of productive well histories.
Mogul Energy president and CEO Tim Turner said the team had worked to reach the stage where they would spud the first well in the company’s South Texas development programme.
