Enterprise Products Partners has bought a 39-mile CO2 pipeline from Trinity Pipeline, which will be converted to crude oil service in order to expand the firm’s gathering system in the Permian Basin of West Texas, US.
The 8in-diameter pipeline has a capacity of 54,000 barrels per day of crude oil and extends from Reeves County, Texas, to Lea County, New Mexico.
The new asset will provide the producers in Bone Springs / Avalon Play with an outlet for their crude oil through a link to the Basin Pipeline.
With access to the Basin system, shippers can also reach other areas of Enterprise’s integrated energy network, including major storage facilities in Midland, Texas, and Cushing, Oklahoma.
Enterprise will also build a central delivery point and related infrastructure for receiving truck deliveries of crude oil and transporting it to the Basin Pipeline.
The firm expects construction of the new facilities and the pipeline conversion to be complete by the end of 2011.
