KBR has received a front end engineering and design (FEED) contract for a new natural gas liquefaction and export facility near Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada.
Apache Canada and EOG Resources, which are partners in Kitimat LNG, have already entered into an agreement to acquire the remaining 50% interest in the Pacific Trails Pipeline to transport natural gas from the production areas to the Kitimat LNG facility.
The 36in-diameter Pacific Trails Pipeline runs 463km underground and will carry natural gas from Summit Lake to Kitimat.
The initial output capacity from the Kitimat facility is expected to be five million tonnes per year and the initial shipment of LNG is expected to commence in 2015.
