Tethys Oil has completed work on the SE-7 well, located onshore Oman, and encountered several intervals of heavy oil, but no flows were established.

The well reached a total depth of 1,890m, where the main target was to test the presence of oil in the Khufai section in the southern part of the Saiwan East structure.

Tethys encountered a column of intermittent heavy oil saturation more than 90m thick in the upper parts of Khufai and hit heavy oil in the shallower Buah, Miqrat and Amin formations.

The well was suspended temporarily for testing and further study.

The firm has moved the rig to drill the Farha South-7 well on block 3 in the Farha South field.
