HRT Participacoes em Petroleo’s subsidiary HRT O&G has spudded its first exploration well, located in the north-east portion of block SOL-T-170 in the Solimoes Basin, Brazil.
The firm will conduct drilling to test an east-west anticlinal geological structure, which was drilled by well 1-NSM-1-AM, where oil and gas production was obtained.
HRT expects to find two oil-bearing reservoirs – Lower Jurua formation sandstones and Uere formation sandstones – in line with the results of the well 1-BRSA-769 Petrobras discovery, 19km from this location.
The well, which is located in the Municipality of Tefe in the state of Amazonas, will be drilled by the TUS-115 rig from Tuscany, and is expected to reach a final depth at around 3,400m.
The firm holds a 55% participating interest in 21 exploration blocks in the Solimoes Basin, covering 48,500 square kilometres, where 52 prospects have been mapped and resources certified, as well as 11 discoveries with contingent resources.
