Drillsearch Energy has spudded the Hanson-1 well, which is located in the PEL 91 block, Cooper Basin, Australia, under the Western Flank Oil Fairway drilling programme.

The well will target the primary objective of the Namur Sandstone, which is a productive oil reservoir in the Chiton oil discovery, along with the Callawonga, Butler and Parsons oil discoveries in the adjacent PEL 92 permit.

The well will be drilled as a conventional vertical well with a main target zone to be penetrated five to seven days after spudding, with logging and possible testing planned after the well reaches its total depth.

The firm will drill the well to a total depth of 1,950mRT and expects to complete the drilling within 14 days.

The Hanson prospect has an estimated mean recoverable prospective resource of 820,000 barrels of oil and a high-side recoverable prospective resource potential of up to two million barrels of oil.
