Ensign Energy Services has entered a definitive agreement to acquire the land drilling division of Rowan Companies for $510m.
Currently, Rowan Land Drilling owns and operates 30 deeper capacity electric land drilling rigs in southern US.
The drilling rig fleet includes 24 2,000hp drilling rigs, three 3,000hp drilling rigs and three 1,500hp drilling rigs, and is suited for extended-reach drilling in the oil and natural gas resource plays of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Oklahoma.
On completion of the transaction, Ensign’s global drilling rig fleet will increase to 340 marketed drilling rigs, with 115 drilling rigs located in the US.
