Norwegian energy company StatoilHydro will shut its Hammerfest LNG plant at Melkoya, Norway, for three months, starting 15 August, for upgrading and maintenance work.

The work will help the plant, which has been operating near full capacity since February, continue its high production levels of gas liquefaction, the company said.

The turnaround work includes replacing 15 heat exchangers, which cool gas from the Snohvit project into liquid, forming LNG.

The plant will resume operations in November, StatoilHydro said.
