Iran’s petrochemical production from domestic petrochemical complexes reached 22.693 million tonnes for the period from 21 March 2009 to 27 December 2009.

The Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex has contributed the largest portion to petrochemical production with nearly 10.906 million tonnes of output, according to Shana News Agency.

By 20 March 2010, National Petrochemical Company plans to produce 38.9 million tonnes, out of which 15.5 million tonnes will be exported and 12.5 million tonnes will be used by the domestic market.

Eleven petrochemical projects valued at $5.1bn are scheduled to come on stream by 20 March 2010, which would increase Iran’s petrochemical output capacity per annum by 8.8 million tonnes.
