Japan’s JGC has announced that it will improve performance and cut harmful emissions at its 305,000bpd Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery (Sasref).
The firm will carry out engineering, procurement and construction work to add two units to reduce sulphur dioxide emissions at the Sasref refinery in Jubail on Saudi Arabia’s Gulf coast.
Sasref’s president Abdulhakim al-Gouhi was quoted by Reuters as saying that on start-up, Sasref sulphur dioxide emissions will be less than 250 parts per million.
“This will make Sasref’s emission the lowest of its kind in the kingdom,” al-Gouhi said.
The refinery recently reopened after a control facilities upgrade, and will mainly export fuel oil, naphtha, gas oil and jet fuel.
