The second phase of the South Hook LNG terminal in Pembroke, UK, has been completed.
The terminal is now Europe’s largest LNG terminal with a total processing capacity of 15.6mtpa, delivering 21bcm per year of gas into the national transmission system (NTS).
The terminal will meet the UK’s long-term energy needs by receiving LNG shipped from Qatar and regasifying it before feeding it into the NTS.
South Hook forms part of the integrated LNG value chain of the Qatargas 2 project.
The first phase began commercial operations in October 2009.
The terminal is owned by a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Total.
