PT Pertamina is in talks with Saudi Aramco to import 200,000bpd of crude oil.

Pertamina president director Karen Agustiawan told Reuters that the firm plans the extra oil imports to expand the capacity of the Balongan refinery in West Java to 325,000bpd from 125,000bpd.

“We want the extra imports to be executed this year although expansion work at Balongan is not finished yet,” Agustiawan said.

“We can use the crude for other refineries.”

At present, Pertamina imports 125,000bpd of crude oil from Saudi Arabia and the combined capacity of its nine refineries comes to about 1 million bpd.
