BHP Billiton and ExxonMobil are studying a new $18bn-$24bn liquefied natural gas development in Western Australia.
BHP petroleum chief Michael Yeager told The Australian that BHP is in talks with Chevron about tying in the Scarborough gas field with the Wheatstone project, and that it has held similar discussions with Woodside Petroleum about its Pluto project.
BHP and Exxon each have a 50% in Scarborough, which is estimated to hold about ten trillion cubic feet of gas.
