TransGlobe Energy’s Safwa NW-1 test well, which lies in Egypt’s Western Desert, has spudded oil.
Wire line logs across the Lower Bahariya Formation have confirmed a 30ft net oil-bearing reservoir with an average porosity exceeding 20%.
The well, which lies in the East Ghazalat Concession and flowed light, 34° API oil at a rate of 250 barrels per day, is currently suspended for a full test.
Safwa NW-1 is the fourth well and the second discovery in the exploration drilling programme conducted by operator Vegas Oil & Gas along with TransGlobe.
