Energy Transfer Partners has begun work on a 175 mile interstate natural gas Tiger Pipeline to serve the Haynesville Shale and Bossier Sands regions in Louisiana and East Texas, US.
The 42in-diameter Tiger Pipeline will have an initial capacity of two billion cfpd and increase to a total capacity of 2.4 billion cfpd.
Gas from the pipeline will be sold under long-term contracts ranging from ten to 15 years. The pipeline is to enter service in the last half of 2011.
Originating in Texas and running up to Louisiana, the line will interconnect seven interstate pipelines and one intrastate pipeline to deliver to markets across the Northeast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
At present, the pipeline is expected to cost $1.1bn in its pre-expansion phase.
