Oil prices remained steady above $76 a barrel today.

For August delivery, US crude gained 3¢ to stand at $76.38 at 06.50 GMT, while London Brent crude rose 14¢ to $76.41 a barrel, according to Reuters.

Data from American Energy Information revealed that US crude inventories unexpectedly gained two million barrels last week, while petrol inventories fell by 800,000 barrels and distillate stocks rose by 300,000 barrels.
