
Amec Foster Wheeler has been selected to undertake a study to modernise Enagás Transporte’s gas treatment facility, part of the company’s Gaviota underground storage plant in northern Spain.
Part of Enagás’s strategic infrastructure, the Gaviota plant supports Spain’s natural gas market.
Under the contract, Amec will evaluate the existing capacity of the treatment facility to meet new European standards and any further requirements for improvement.

Slated for completion later this year, the study follows multiple project deliveries by Amec for Enagás in Spain, as well as Mexico, over the past 22 years.
Enagás develops and maintains gas infrastructure and the operation and management of complex networks gas.
The company has about 11,000km of pipelines, three underground storage facilities in Serrablo (Huesca), Gaviota (Vizcaya) and Yela (Guadalajara), and four regasification plants in Barcelona, Huelva, Cartagena and Gijón.
It also owns 50% of the regasification plant in Bilbao, 30% of Sagunto and 100% of Gascan.
