Consol Energy will sell part of its overriding royalty interests in its Marcellus Shale assets to Antero Resources Appalachian for $193m.

Antero will gain 7% or royalty interests in 115,647 net acres of Marcellus Shale in nine counties in south-west Pennsylvania and north central West Virginia.

These rights were previously reserved by Dominion when Antero acquired the working interests and operating rights in Marcellus Shale in 2008.

Consol Energy will retain existing shallow wells and formations and all other leasehold interests on the acreage, including geological formations above and below the Marcellus Shale.
