Drillsearch Energy

Drillsearch Energy has begun extended production testing (EPT) at the Coolawang wet gas discovery in PEL 106B, located in Australia’s Cooper basin.

Coolawang-1 is the third well in the Western Wet Gas Fairway exploration programme, which was undertaken this year.

The company said it will the continue current test programme for 20 days, and separate EPTs will be conducted over the two wet gas pay intervals identified from the Coolawang-1 wet gas discovery well.

The programme comprises four exploration wells in PEL 106B, which target the Patchawarra and Tirrawarra formations located on the western flank of the Cooper Basin.

The well encountered good hydrocarbon fluorescence and gas shows in sands highlighted two likely wet gas pay zones in the Lower Patchawarra Formation.

Drillsearch Energy managing director Brad Lingo said production testing at Coolawang is the beginning of the company’s three-well EPT programme at the Western Wet Gas Fairway.

"With Haslam and Southend to follow, the joint venture will use the data collected from the EPTs to determine future development plans in the Wet Gas Fairway," said Lingo.

"The extended production testing at Coolawang will provide the PEL 106B joint venture with a much better estimate of both reserves and expected production rates."

Beach Energy is the operator which holds 50% interest in PEL 106B, while Drillsearch Energy owns 50% interest.
