Automation systems provider Emerson has secured a contract to provide control and safety system maintenance services for the support of Total’s upstream oil and gas operations worldwide.

The ten-year agreement is part of Total’s integrated control and safety systems standardisation strategy, and formalises the collaboration between the two companies.

Under the contract, Emerson will provide servicing, maintenance, obsolescence planning and on-call application support.

The company will also be responsible for spare parts management, reporting activities with regard integrated control and safety systems used in selected Total onshore and offshore sites.

Total will use Emerson’s DeltaV distributed control systems and DeltaV SIS safety systems, as well as its AMS asset management software.

Emerson business president Mike Train said: “This agreement strengthens Emerson’s excellent relationship with Total and enables our services team to support Total in its continuous efforts to optimise the efficiency of their operations and ensure high-safety performance.
