Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and MarkWest Utica EMG have agreed to form a midstream joint venture (JV) for two new projects in Ohio, Texas and Louisiana.

The first project involves developing a 400 million cubic feet a day (MMcf/d) cryogenic processing complex in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.

MarkWest Utica EMG will anchor the first of two planned 200 MMcf/d cryogenic processing plants at the 220-acre site, which is expected to be in service by the fourth quarter of 2014.

The company will supply rich gas to the processing complex through an extension of its existing rich-gas-gathering system in Ohio.

The processing complex will serve new customers in northern Ohio, providing gas processing, natural gas liquids (NGL) transportation and fractionation and residue gas outlets.

The second project involves developing a 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) C2+ NGL pipeline, which will originate at the planned JV processing facilities in Ohio, and transport NGLs to Gulf Coast fractionation facilities.

The JV will develop the new pipeline project by converting around 900 miles of Kinder Morgan’s 24in and 26in Tennessee Gas Pipeline system, which is in service from Tuscarawas County, Ohio to Natchitoches in Louisiana.

The company will also construct around 200 miles of new NGL pipeline from Natchitoches to Mont Belvieu in Texas and south Louisiana, and plans to expand the pipeline to 400,000 bpd with the addition of pump stations.
