Armacell - Armaflex® - Thermal and Acoustic Insulation and Arma-Chek Covering Systems

Armacell is the inventor of Armaflex®, the closed-cell, elastomeric insulation material. Together with Arma-Check covering system you have the perfect thermal and acoustic insulation system, which minimises the risk of under insulation corrosion.

Armacell offers you a worldwide service with its 15 production plants located throughout the globe and its dedicated marine and offshore team.

ARMAFLEX - HIGH RESISTANCE TO WATER VAPOUR TO MINIMISE UNDER INSULATION CORROSION RISK

Armaflex is a closed-cell, elastomeric foam with a very low thermal conductivity - e.g. AF/Armaflex = 0,036 W (m.K) (DIN52612 ). Due to the closed-cell structure of the product and the very high resistance of water vapour transmission (AF/Armaflex =µ 7000) Armaflex is a very long-lasting insulation material, which also minimises the risk of under insulation corrosion.

Armaflex is delivered in tubes and sheets and because of the flexibility easy to install. Armaflex is fibre-free and free of any CFC. It can be installed on pipes with media running down to - 200°C. However, for process temperatures below - 50°C, it is necessary to contact our technical department. The following brands are available:

  • NH/Armaflex - the product is completely halogen-free with a very low smoke Index. It minimises the risk of stress corrosion cracking. NH/Armaflex can be used on surfaces up to +105°C.
  • HT/Armaflex - it is UV-resistant and suitable up to + 150°C (short term + 175°C) and perfect for "change-over" applications. HT/Armaflex is PVC-free

Furthermore several local brands are available and certified according to the individual legislation:

  • AF/Armaflex - North Europe
  • IT /Armaflex - South Europe
  • Class O Armalflex - United Kingdom
  • AP Armaflex - USA
  • AC Armaflex - ASIA

ARMA-CHECK - RESISTANCE TO UV AND OZONE ATTACK

Arma-Chek is the ideal covering system, which provides mechanical protection to the insulation as well as resistance to UV and ozone-attack, salt water and since it is a non-metallic product no galvanic corrosion is possible. We can supply a variety of Arma-Chek:

  • Arma-Chek D - a covering which is tough, easy to apply, lightweight and cost effective
  • Arma-Chek S - a traditional appearance for use on land based refineries and designed for internal services on rigs, shipping, etc
  • Arma-Chek R - a very tough rubber-based cladding made especially for the harshest offshore environments
  • Arma-Chek T - a water-based painting system which provides a very tough surface on the insulation material

THERMAL AND ACOUSTIC INSULATION

Armaflex and Arma-Chek are ideal for all thermal and acoustic insulation required on:

  • Process work
  • Instrumentation lines
  • Hot and cold water supplies
  • Chilled water pipe work
  • Refrigeration pipe work and ancillary equipment
  • Air condition ( ducts, valves, vessels, etc)

Armaflex and Arma-Chek are certified according to several international fire standards including the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Other certification bodies like Lloyds, DNV and ABS. Further information upon request also approve the products.
