Armacell is the market and technology leader in flexible technical insulation materials. For more than 50 years, Armaflex® Insulation Systems have been applied in a great variety of projects throughout the world. Armacell now offers cost-effective thermal and thermal-acoustic insulation systems for the special requirements of the oil and gas industry.
Armaflex Cryogenic Systems are specially designed to meet the specific demands of low-temperature applications (down to -200°C). The systems combine in a single product the key performance properties that are traditionally only achieved through a combination of different materials.
They ensure excellent thermal insulation and reduce the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI), without the need for additional vapour barriers or contraction joints.
Key benefits of Armaflex Cryogenic Systems:
ArmaSound Industrial Systems provide not only the desired noise control but also protect the installations against condensation and moisture penetration. The system is available in different configurations with various insulation layers and thicknesses, each designed to meet target noise requirements. In comparison to traditional insulation constructions, ArmaSound Industrial Systems are fully compliant to ISO 15665 (‘Acoustic insulation for pipes, valves and flanges’) with substantially reduced insulation thickness and weight.
Key benefits of ArmaSound Industrial Systems:
If thermal-acoustic insulation is required on low-temperature installations, the combined use of Armaflex cryogenic and ArmaSound Industrial Systems is recommended. The dust and fibre-free systems are designed to work in tandem and offer major benefits in terms of total installation and maintenance costs.
Armacell is the inventor of Armaflex, the first flexible pipe insulation and the world's best-known brand in the industry. To meet the various national standards, Armacell offers different Armaflex premium brands for the respective market areas. For the special requirements of the oil and gas industry Armacell particularly recommends:
NH/Armaflex is the world’s first halogen-free elastomeric insulation material. The product is made with-out the addition of chlorides and bromides and has very low smoke density in the event of a fire. It is the ideal solution for environments with specific safety requirements and is certified for use in marine and offshore environments.
Arma-Chek R is a rubber-based, installation-friendly covering material, which offers extra system security to further minimise the risk of CUI. Arma-Chek R is fully weather-proof with an exceptionally high water vapour resistance. It is resistant to UV-radiation, oil and chemicals and its non-metallic nature eliminates the risk of galvanic corrosion.
Armacell products are certified according to international fire standards, including those of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Lloyd's, DNV and ABS. Further information is available upon request.
With 18 manufacturing plants in 12 countries on four continents, Armacell provides a delivery service which is unique in its line of business, and is able to supply large industrial projects from multiple sources. All over the world, sales representatives, technical consultants and applications specialists are available to support facility operators, designers and insulation contractors.
Armacell products have been specified for ventures operated by some of the leading international oil and gas companies, such as Shell, BP, Total, Chevron, etc. The reference list includes projects such as the Schiehallion FPSO (1997), the Terra Nova FPSO (1999), Sakhalin (2005), the Snøhvit LNG terminal (2005), the Sonatrach Skikda LNG project (2010), and many others.
