Intergraph® CADWorx® Plant Design Suite 2012, the newest version of Intergraph’s design solution for mid-market and AutoCAD®-based projects and workgroups, is now compatible with AutoCAD 2012, the latest AutoCAD release from Autodesk (Nasdaq GS:ADSK), offering users improved capabilities.

Included in the CADWorx 2012 release are the following products: CADWorx Plant Professional for intelligent 3D plant modelling, with live database links, and automated production of deliverables; CADWorx P&ID Professional for the creation of intelligent database-linked P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, and P&ID publishing; CADWorx fieldPipe, which links Leica Geosystems laser precision to CADWorx Plant Professional capabilities for plant as-built models, spool verification and on-site creation of design deliverables; and CADWorx Design Review for efficient creation of model walkthroughs, and inter-discipline collaboration.

CADWorx 2012 builds on recently added capabilities and performance-enhancing features. CADWorx Plant Professional now includes a new discontinuity palette, used to show component discontinuities and overlaps in the model, with full reporting capabilities. A newly improved pipe support module provides greater flexibility in the placement of pipe supports, with bills of material capabilities extended to pipe support subassemblies. HVAC and cable tray enhancements include the addition of manufactures catalogs and live database links to components. Improved steel capabilities include the ability to create plate from any single-line shape plus enhanced CIS/2 import to provide better integration with Intergraph FrameWorks®.

Other CADWorx 2012 features for Intergraph CADWorx Equipment include a new center of gravity calculator for equipment, and, for vessels and exchangers, stiffening rings can now be added internally and rings can be oriented about their primary axis. Also in addition to live database capabilities, CADWorx P&ID Professional now offers direct data export to Microsoft® Excel®. Additionally CADWorx fieldPipe is now offered as an add-on module to CADWorx Plant Professional, allowing for more flexible implementation options.

“Many of these capabilities have been added or enhanced, based on end-user requests. With this AutoCAD 2012 compatibility release we not only show our commitment to our customers, but also to the CAD platform on which they have chosen to standardise,” said Richard Allen, senior vice president, Intergraph CADWorx and Analysis Solutions.

“One thing that will always drive us is to desire to deliver the very best solutions, and with CADWorx we continue to leverage innovation and technology to deliver value by supporting the latest platform updates, while also making intelligent plant design easier and more available than ever before.”

CADWorx also offers the industry’s first and only true bi-directional links between CAD and engineering analysis tools, linking CADWorx with Intergraph’s industry-leading pipe stress analysis program, CAESAR II, and with Intergraph PV Elite® for pressure vessel and exchanger analysis.

The Intergraph CADWorx Plant Design Suite for process plant design offers intelligent drawing-to-database connectivity, advanced levels of design automation and easy-to-use design tools. Because of these distinct advantages, EPC firms and owner operators in the process, power, water treatment, pharmaceutical, food and beverage and semiconductor industries have rapidly adopted the plant design solution.

CADWorx Plant Design Suite is featured at Intergraph @ Hexagon 2011. Hexagon’s annual user conference promotes industry innovation through training, shared end-user successes, thought leadership and networking. CADWorx, CAESAR II, and PV Elite will also be featured at CADWorx & Analysis University 2011 in Houston, Texas on Sept. 19 – 21, 2011.
