North-seeking gyroscope

The GyroTracer instrument is a highly accurate, extremely reliable downhole directional survey and orientation tool. Comprising the latest technology, the SPT system uses the gyro-compassing method to find direction.

As it is a north-seeking gyro, all measurements are in reference to geographic north. Unlike other downhole survey or magnetic tools, the GyroTracer is not affected by magnetic interference. It can be run inside casing, tubing, drill pipe and magnetically disturbed ground.

Downhole directional survey and orientation tool

The easy-to-use, 42mm diameter GyroTracer system can be used for a variety of applications including shallow borehole to deep borehole surveying, single-shot / multi-shot applications, slim-hole casing, orientation, whip stock kick-off, and downhole motor orientation. The operating software used to run all SPT instruments is very reliable and user friendly.

The GyroTracer package comes with both wireline and memory-mode option. It has become recognised as a benchmark technology when considering downhole gyro navigation.

High-temperature magnetic inclinometer

The MagCruiser HT™, the world's most robust drop capable magnetic inclinometer, is a memory surveying instrument with drop capability that provides magnetic azimuth along with inclination, toolface and magnetic field readings. It is designed for the deep wells of the oil and gas sector as it has a temperature rating of
200°C.

A single survey allows the operator to measure the azimuth and dip at one depth. Multi-shot mode allows the operator to take many surveys at any depths to find information on the well path and coordinate positions. This can be done on run-in, run-out, or both. The instrument is not run on a timer so survey shots can be taken at any depth or time. The software enables the user to run surveys online or offline.
