NV Mechanics Design - Electrical and Hydraulic Winches – Instrumentation, Wireline and Oceanographic

NV Mechanics Design is a fast-growing subsea custom engineering solutions company, based along the Pacific coast in Vancouver, Canada.

The company offers subsea engineering solutions, industrial winches, offshore equipment, subsea robotics and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) equipment.

Engineering solutions for subsea systems

NV Mechanics Design offers complete engineering design and analysis services for the development of subsea systems in strict compliance with current codes and standards.

Typical applications include creation and reviewing of existing product design and fabrication requirements, scoping and detailed stress analysis, as well as determining specification and regulatory constraints. NV Mechanics Design will provide technical information and work with you on defining system requirements.

The company provides the following solutions:

  • Conceptual and detailed design to Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) standards
  • Materials selection and fabrication specifications, design analysis, optimisation and finite element analysis (FEA)

Industrial winches for subsea and marine applications

NV Mechanics Design is a leader in the design, manufacture and start-up of industrial electrical winches. The company has successfully delivered instrumentation winches for tunnel inspection systems, downhole tools and subsea survey and marine applications, which require an umbilical up to 15,000ft or more with adjustable fly-active level wind control.

NV Mechanics Design's winches are used in the following:

  • ROV handling systems operations
  • Oil and gas downhole inspections
  • Wireline winches
  • Subsea drilling (underwater wireline winches)
  • Pipe and tunnel inspections
  • Conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) and hydrographic winches

Winch control with active heave compensation and level wind

NV Mechanics Design's winches have a unique approach when it comes to the control system. Containing all the features required for safe winch operation, the control system includes active heave compensation and active level wind.

NV Mechanics Design's winches are equipped with optical and electrical slip rings for high-definition video and data transmission, a load cell for tension monitoring, as well as a brake system. All of these features are optional and based on customer requirements.

The level wind advance rate is displayed on the fourth line of the LCD display in units of mm/turn and is adjustable between 0mm and 25 mm/turn in 0.01mm steps. The dial potentiometer on the control panel adjusts the level wind advance rate, which takes effect immediately and can be adjusted at any time during the winch operation.

Retrofit level wind systems with new modules

Give new life to an old electric or hydraulic winch with a new level wind assembly. NV Mechanics Design can refurbish your existing winch system with a new level wind module regardless of length and size of the drum, hydraulic or electric motor. It is an add-on module to your winch, which requires only 110VAC or 220VAC and comes with PLC control and LCD display included. Give new life to an old electric or hydraulic winch with a new level wind assembly.

Winches and subsea equipment for rental

NV Mechanics Design offers AC winches, power and associated deck machinery for rental, while also maintaining an extensive stock of spare components and assemblies.

The company provides:

  • Industrial, marine and wireline winches, with or without umbilical (up to 15,000ft)
  • TSS coils deployment systems, designed to deploy TSS 340 and 430 coils from an ROV
  • One atmosphere pressure vessels / electronic housings, which are designed and calculated in accordance with 1990 ABS rules for building and classing underwater vehicles, systems and hyperbaric facilities, Section 6.19

Offshore personnel hire

NV Mechanics Design offers skilled technicians and engineers who are dedicated to providing solutions for clients' offshore manning requirements. Personnel are fully qualified, trained and experienced to work worldwide on offshore installations, marine support vessels, barges and land-based installations.

The company offers:

  • Commissioning engineers and technicians
