GE Oil & Gas has signed a memorandum of understanding with China-based Endurance Industry to supply 260 ‘CNG in a box’ systems over the next three years.

The systems provide a small-scale plug-and-play compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling solution to customers. They comprise high-speed reciprocating (HSR) compressors, which offer core technology that creates small and modular gas monetisation solutions from optimising production at a gas or oil well site.

Using the CNG in a box solution efficiently reduces CO2, CO, NOx, PM and VOC emissions.

The CNG fuel station configuration which supplies Endurance includes a standard-size unit with multiple smaller daughter stations, minimising the need for pre-existing natural gas pipelines.

Endurance Industry chairman Lin Chaoyang said that China’s vast reserves of natural gas, shallow coalbed methane and recoverable shale gas allow for the gradual transition from traditional fuel sources to efficient and environmentally friendly natural gas options.

"Through the implementation of natural gas solutions such as GE’s CNG in a box technology, Endurance will help to greatly reduce CO2 emissions throughout the country," Chaoyang added.
