Under the $17m order placed by the JKC Australia LNG, turboexpanders and air compressors are to be delivered by the third quarter of 2013.

Atlas Copco turboexpanders will be used in gas treatment, while the three-stage air compressors will produce instrument air for use at the onshore plant for the project.

Atlas Copco Compressor Technique business area president Stephan Kuhn said, "Atlas Copco’s substantial LNG knowledge and references, combined with our ability to meet the precise and rigorous specifications of this project, helped us win this order."

The project, operated by INPEX Corporation with partner Total, will produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) using natural gas from the Ichthys Field.

Gas produced from the field will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and raw liquids, including condensate.

The gas will then be exported through an 889km subsea pipeline to onshore processing facilities in Darwin.
