Energy software-as-a-service (SaaS) and data analytics company Drillinginfo has formed a new strategic collaboration with Hart Energy’s infrastructure database and mapping service Rextag to create a combined midstream business product.

Companies in the midstream sector require analysis of surface mapping for supply logistics, including processing locations, pipelines, facilities, storage, refineries, rail, well locations, renewable energy infrastructure and electrical transmission.

However, midstream companies analyse problems by piecemealing different datasets or use only partial information to arrive at key decisions, Drillinginfo noted.

The integration of Drillinginfo and Rextag’s capabilities is expected to provide companies with all relevant datasets in a single platform, which offer context and infrastructure siting and mapping.

“With Rextag’s GIS datasets inside Drillinginfo’s platform, we’re able to serve more interests than if we operated individually in silos.”

Drillinginfo strategic development senior vice-president Tanya Andrien said: “Bringing Drillinginfo and Rextag together combines two best-in-class services for an unparalleled view of midstream activity. The moment you insert Rextag data into Drillinginfo’s platform, it has a new and valuable context.”

Known as Drillinginfo Midstream Infrastructure, the combined service will help customers identify gatherers operating in the vicinity and are ready to pick up their production, as well as find buyers for their output.
