Galoc Production Company (GPC) has shut down production at the Galoc oilfield, offshore Palawan, Philippines, to upgrade a floating production, offloading and storage (FPSO) vessel.

The Rubicon Intrepid FPSO mooring system will be upgraded to a turret system, and will take three months to complete.

The installation will be undertaken at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.

The upgrade work will enable the Galoc joint venture to go ahead with the phase II development programme.

Seabed anchoring and riser modifications will be reconnected to the FPSO when it returns to the field in the first quarter of 2012.
