GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global LNG New-Build and Expansion Projects Outlook to 2026’, indicates a total of 181 liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects are expected to start operations from 2022 to 2026. Of these, 126 represent regasification projects and 55 are liquefaction projects.
Globally, 56 LNG regasification projects are in the approval stage and likely to start operations from 2022 to 2026. Construction and feasibility are the other major project stages with 32 and 29, respectively.
Asia leads globally, accounting for 95 of the regasification project starts by 2026. Europe is another major region, with 13 projects expected to start operations by 2026.
Among countries, China would lead globally with the highest number of project starts (31) by 2026, followed by India with 20 projects.
