
The latest analytical report from Global Data, ‘Q2 2019 Global FPSO Industry Outlook – Petrobras Continues to Lead Global FPSO Deployments’, suggests that globally 67 planned and announced floating production, storage, and offloading units (FPSOs) are expected to start operations by 2025.
Among regions, South America continues to lead globally with 27 planned and announced FPSO additions by 2025. Africa and Europe follow with 15 and eight FPSOs, respectively.
Globally among countries, Brazil leads with 20 planned and announced FPSOs by 2025, followed by Angola with six. Falkland Islands, Nigeria, Australia and the UK have four planned and announced FPSOs each to deploy during the outlook period.
Among operators globally, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) leads with 17 planned and announced FPSOs, followed by Modec Inc and Premier Oil Plc with three FPSOs each by 2025.
In South America, 27 planned and announced FPSOs are expected to start operations by 2025. Among these, 12 are planned and 15 are announced FPSOs. Brazil leads the region with 20 planned and announced FPSOs, followed by the Falkland Islands and Guyana with four and three FPSOs, respectively.
Africa has 15 planned and announced FPSOs are expected to come online in seven countries by 2025. Among these, three are planned and 12 are announced FPSOs. Angola leads the region with six FPSOs, followed by Nigeria with four FPSOs, by 2025. Ghana, Mauritania, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia have one upcoming FPSO each.
In Europe eight planned and announced FPSOs expected to start operations during the outlook period 2019–2025. The UK leads the region with four planned and announced FPSOs, followed by Norway with three, and Cyprus with one FPSO.
North America has five planned and announced FPSO’s that are expected to start operations during 2019–2025. Within the region Mexico leads with three planned and announced FPSOs, while the US and Canada have one FPSO each.
In Oceania, only Australia has four planned and announced FPSOs, expected to be deployed during the outlook period. While in Middle East only one planned FPSO is expected to come online in 2021.
