
GlobalData’s latest analysis of global planned and announced trunk/transmission oil and gas pipelines in North America for the period 2018 to 2022 shows that the Keystone XL Project oil pipeline in Canada is the longest planned pipeline with a length of 1,897km.
The onshore pipeline is expected to start operations in 2020. TransCanada Corporation has 100% equity in the pipeline and the sole operator of this pipeline. Keystone XL has a total capex of $8bn.
The second-longest planned pipeline, Express Platte Twin Expansion, is in the US with a length of 1,561km. The onshore oil pipeline is expected to start operations in 2019. Enbridge is the operator and 78% stake holder of this pipeline. The pipeline has a total capex of $3bn.
The Elk Creek NGL pipeline in the US is the third-longest pipeline for the period of 2018 to 2022 with a length of 1,448 km. The onshore pipeline is expected to start operations in 2019. Oneok has a 100% equity stake and is also the operator. The pipeline has a total capex spending of $1.2bn.
