Wilhelmsen Marine Engineering (WME) has been chosen to handle the electrical work and HVAC upgrades on Stena Lines’ Germanica.

The work will take place at Cityvarvet in Gothenburg from September to November 2010. The total value of the conducted work is estimated at €1m.

The Germanica is being converted for the purpose of operations in trade that require greater cargo space. The electrical work consists of engineering and installations including lighting equipment and fixtures, fire detection systems, radar navigation, PA system and a large elevator conversion, including new automation system and rebuilding the cabin. The HVAC component is a turnkey delivery of two new air handling units with duct systems and two new ventilation fans to serve the cargo hold area.

The job will require a substantial number of man-hours.
