Gloucestershire-based weld overlay cladding specialist Arc Energy Resources has strengthened its welding engineering department by promoting Peter Crumpton from senior project manager to welding engineering manager.
Arc Energy Resources specialises in the supply of weld overlay clad products, fabrications and related services to the oil and gas, petrochemical, water, waste treatment and naval industries.
Arc Energy supplies corrosion-resisting weld overlay of customer-supplied components (as clad or finished machined weld overlay products); weld overlay and CRA fabrications; piping and sub assemblies; and ASME U stamp weld overlay clad components.

Arc Energy has established a reputation as one of the UK’s top suppliers of weld overlay clad services. Our heavy-duty CRA coatings protect process equipment from damage caused by contact with abrasive or corrosive materials.
Our weld overlay service is used by customers when service conditions require corrosion-resisting properties. Weld overlay often provides cost and schedule advantages over solid corrosion resisting alloys. This means that we overlay a diverse range of components in terms of geometries, base materials and weld overlay grades.

Weld overlay protection
Our weld overlay cladding techniques deposit a layer of protective alloy over vulnerable surfaces, avoiding the need to construct the whole component in expensive anti-corrosive and wear-resistant materials.
Based on our extensive experience, we have selected our cladding equipment and processes in order to achieve optimum deposition rates and clad quality. Utilising mechanised and robotic cladding stations maximises productivity and enables us to produce cladding of repeatable quality and composition.
We have extensive experience in cladding areas of restricted access. This is underscored by the ability to clad within bores from 50mm up to 4m in diameter.
Weld overlay fabrications
Using our specialist knowledge of metallurgy and welding engineering of CRAs, we fabricate extensively in both stainless steels and nickel-based alloys. By combining our two core specialist activities, fabrication and cladding, we can provide a complete package, thereby offering our customers savings in production time and transport cost. Weld overlay cladding and fabrication project management
Dealing with many different suppliers can be wasteful and time-consuming. Our anti-corrosion engineering solution incorporates everything from the purchase of raw materials, cladding, welding and machining, to inspection, NDT and documentation.
Our 1,000m² 24-hour manufacturing facility is equipped to handle a wide range of fabrication and cladding contracts. Cladding is performed on dedicated cladding stations with handling capabilities of up to 18t.
In addition to our fabrication facilities we operate an in-house heat treatment service, with a furnace calibrated to API 6A, NC plasma profiling, non-destructive testing and bead blasting.

Arc Energy is able to offer finished or semi-finished weld overlay products. We maintain a list of approved suppliers of forgings, pipe and plate from which we procure the base materials for subsequent weld overlaying, including:
