The Techno Fibre Group is launching a programme which will provide some measure of protection to individuals in distaster areas. The Techno Fibre Group is launching a unique and innovative global social responsibility and humanitarian programme, focusing on coastal earthquake / tsunami-prone areas of the world, which will provide some measure of protection to individuals in these disaster areas.

The ideology behind the programme is a very simple one. Techno Fibre, being one of the foremost independent lifeboat and davit service companies in the world, has on many, many occasions in the past, undertaken the task of disposing obsolete, totally enclosed lifeboats (TELBs), which have been replaced by models with improved hook-release systems, and in some cases, larger personnel capacities.

Instead of relegating old units to a landfill site, where they will remain indefinitely, Technofibre has pledged to give these boats a new lease of life, without the expense of using costly resources during the conversion process.

With the new change in regulations due to take effect in 2014, many shipping companies will be opting to replace existing TELBs with new, upgraded lifeboats incorporating the new hook-release systems, rather than costly, time consuming conversions of existing mechanisms.

With the above in mind, Techno Fibre is actively seeking the cooperation of companies that are replacing any existing lifeboats, by requesting these companies to contact any of the regional Techno Fibre offices in Australia, Dubai, China, Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore, if they are seeking to dispose of obsolete units.

These obsolete units will then be converted into ‘tsunami escape pods’, free of charge, at any of the Techno Fibre facilities.

From these locations the units, once converted, can be transported to earthquake / tsunami-prone coastal areas in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, North America, South America etc.

Companies or organisations wishing to join Technofibre in this initiative are encouraged and urged to contact Techno Fibre directly, especially if able to assist in providing transport or logistical support to the above mentioned areas. Countries, or cities that are interested in acquiring tsunami escape pods are also requested to contact Techno Fibre either at their website or using the form to the right of this page.
