Retrofit Installation by Diver or ROV
With new industry practices and technologies leading to the extension of oilfields, it’s not surprising...
Finding an adhesive capable of withstanding the adverse environmental conditions encountered in subsea operations and at salt-laden platforms can be a difficult process.
You might need an adhesive to go the extra mile and perform on an unusual substrate while under a challenging environment.
Maybe you’re concerned about the adhesive’s impacts on the environment? Or maybe you need an adhesive that is multipurpose.
We understood these challenges in the market and developed a tried and tested hero adhesive called Biohesive 225® that covers all your requirements in one:
Various pieces of offshore and subsea equipment are designed to cope with high temperatures, Biohesive 225® offers adhesion over a wide range from -65°C to 300°C.
As a single component adhesive, it requires no mixing or metering of curatives, instead relying on atmospheric moisture to cure. This means that the application of Biohesive® 225 is very straightforward, using just a basic caulking gun.
Steel, HDPE, polyurethane, neoprene…you name it! Biohesive 225® was developed for use on different types of equipment where surface types can vary dramatically.
Our adhesive has an extensive track record for use on all types of oilfield signage, installed both topside and subsea: substrates include silicone, plastics and metal.
The RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) aspect of Biohesive 225® means that is has a very fast curing time. Rapid atmospheric curing means that the adhesive can be immersed in salt water within minutes.
Single component adhesives are relatively new, and before these came along, two-part adhesives needed mixing. Once the components were mixed all of the product needed to be used.
Biohesive 225®’s one part attribute benefits from no mixing or prep, giving the added bonus that it can be used again and again within its long shelf-life.
This is considerably longer than conventional epoxy or polyurethane adhesives. Cartridges of Biohesive® 225 can be re-used; following application, the tip of the cartridge will automatically cure and seal the remainder of the material against atmospheric moisture.
This is based on third-party testing programmes, including:
Our hero adhesive has been tested by third parties to analyse toxicity in marine environments. Biohesive 225® qualified as 100% eco-friendly and non-toxic providing a harmless, long lasting fixing solution.
Biohesive® 225’s contains non-hazardous components, this means that while being safe for use in water with minimal PPE, it is also safe to transport globally, within short lead-times.
