August 2021 has seen an increase of 1.43% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 7.17% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 1.06% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 62.42% in August 2021, a 3.45% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.92% in August 2021, marking an 11.11% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 6.53% in August 2021, a 31.67% drop from July 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 13.95% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry during August 2021 over previous month.

Reliance Industries posted 145 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 28.32% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 69 jobs and an 11.29% growth. Exxon Mobil with 63 IT jobs and Royal Dutch Shell with 62 jobs, recorded a 5.97% drop and an 8.82% drop, respectively, while Yara International recorded a 66.67% increase with 45 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 74.36% share in August 2021, a 7.6% increase over July 2021. China featured next with a 7.8% share, down 7.55% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 3.66% share, a drop of 4.17% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.96%, down by 23.85% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.78% share, registered a growth of 22.22% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.1% share, up 38.18% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.16%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
