Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 0.24% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50% in August 2021, registering an 18.18% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.52% share, a decrease of 52.38% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.96%, registering a flat growth from July 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 12.96%, up 75% over the previous month.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 116.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
TC Energy posted 8 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 5 jobs and a 400% growth. Parkland with 5 IT jobs and Cenovus Energy with 4 jobs, recorded a 150% flat growth and a 300% flat growth, respectively, while Canadian Natural Resources recorded an increase of 100% with 4 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.7%, down by 36.96% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.63% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.67% share, up 12.5% over July 2021.
