
India’s oil & gas industry registered a 3.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 9.49% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.91% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 1.55% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.93% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 66.17% in August 2021, registering a 3.69% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.99% share, an increase of 18.64% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 7.28%, registering a 20.93% decline from July 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.42%, up 114.29% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 5.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Reliance Industries posted 145 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 28.32% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 63 jobs and a 21.15% growth. Royal Dutch Shell with 60 IT jobs and PI Industries with 37 jobs, recorded a 7.69% decline and a 15.91% decrease, respectively, while Exxon Mobil recorded a decline of 26.67% with 33 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.82%, down by 11.72% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.76% share, registered an increase of 36.61% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.42% share, up 81.25% over July 2021.
