Management Occupations drive corporate governance-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 12%, emerged as the top corporate governance-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings rising by 28% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 8% in Q1 2024, with new job postings rising by 11% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent corporate governance roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share in Q1 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 30% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were State of Alaska, Axalta Coating Systems, Linde, Delek US, and Roquette Freres. Together they accounted for a combined share of 30% of all corporate governance-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.

State of Alaska posted 671 corporate governance-related new jobs in Q1 2024, Axalta Coating Systems 488 jobs, Linde 386 jobs, Delek US 370 jobs, and Roquette Freres 287 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 50.20% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024

The largest share of corporate governance-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 50.20% followed by India (10.32%) and the UK (4.64%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points lower than the 52.49% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
