Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity

Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 13%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 27% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 29% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with an 8% share in Q3 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 25% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were NES Global Talent Norge, Linde, John Wood Group, Shell, and Solvay. Together they accounted for a combined share of 25% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.

NES Global Talent Norge posted 2,549 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Linde 985 jobs, John Wood Group 660 jobs, Shell 658 jobs, and Solvay 552 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 52.10% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 52.10% followed by the UK (6.30%) and Canada (5.65%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 53.09% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
