
The US oil & gas industry registered a 6.3% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 3.74% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.61% share in June 2021, recording decrease of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 93.87% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US oil & gas industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.1% in June 2021, a 15.77% drop over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.15% share, decline of 10.45% over the previous month.
3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 13.68%, registering a 16% rise from May 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 11.32%, down 32.39% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the US IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 42.7% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US oil & gas industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
Marathon Petroleum posted 58 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 81.25% over the previous month, followed by Phillips 66 with 23 jobs and a 53.33% growth. Baker Hughes Holdings with 16 IT jobs and RigNet with 15 jobs, recorded an 11.11% drop and a 66.67% increase, respectively, while Halliburton recorded a flat growth with 15 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.22%, down by 22.55% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.58% share, a decline of 7.78% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.21% share, up 47.37% over May 2021.
