The US’s oil & gas industry registered a 5.5% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.33% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.4% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 13.45% share, an increase of 9.59% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 8.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

Exxon Mobil posted 46 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 42.5% over the previous month, followed by TotalEnergies with 35 jobs and a 40% growth. Marathon Petroleum with 34 IT jobs and Air Products and Chemicals with 22 jobs, recorded an 8.11% decline and an 83.33% flat growth, respectively, while Baker Hughes Holdings recorded an increase of 10.53% with 21 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.18%, up by 7.69% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.24% share, registered an increase of 16% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.58% share, flat growth over July 2021.
