The largest producers of natural gas in New Zealand are Todd, OMV and Greymouth Petroleum. Todd was the largest producer of natural gas in 2022 with output up by 1% on 2021.

OMV was the second-largest producer, with output down by 9%, and Greymouth Petroleum was third with a decrease of 8% on the previous year.

There are 11 natural gas producing fields in New Zealand of which three are located offshore and the rest onshore. The Taranaki has the majority of the natural gas fields in the country with 11.
