The value marked a decrease of 77.2% over the previous month and a drop of 87.6% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $38.16bn.
Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $2.17bn. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $2.11bn.
In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for oil & gas industry M&A deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.
The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in February 2019 was the US with 43 deals, followed by the UK with ten and Canada with eight.
In 2019, as of the end of February 2019, oil & gas M&A deals worth $25.42bn were announced globally, marking a decrease of 21.9% year on year.

The top five oil & gas industry M&A deals accounted for 39% of the overall value during February 2019.
The combined value of the top five oil & gas industry M&A deals stood at $1.84bn, against the overall value of $4.73bn recorded for the month. The top announced oil & gas industry M&A deal tracked by GlobalData in February 2019 was Guangzhou Xingchen Consultation’s $406.01m acquisition of Panyu Chu Kong Steel Pipe.
In second place was the $390m acquisition of Gimi MS by Keppel and in third place was First Reserve’s $356.58m asset transaction with The Weir Group.
The $350m asset transaction with EPIC Midstream Holdings by Noble Midstream Partners and Nutrien‘s acquisition of Actagro for $340m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
