The value marked a decrease of 92.1% over the previous quarter and a drop of 53.3% when compared with the last four-quarter average, which stood at $14.23bn.
Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $4.93bn. At the country level, the United States topped the list in terms of deal value at $4.93bn.
In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for oil & gas private equity deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of private equity deals activity in Q4 2018 was the United States with 32 deals, followed by the United Kingdom with four and Canada with three.
In 2018, as of the end of Q4, oil & gas private equity deals worth $55.51bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 76.5% year on year.

The combined value of the top five oil & gas private equity deals stood at $5.17bn, against the overall value of $6.48bn recorded for the quarter.
The top announced oil & gas private equity deal tracked by GlobalData in Q4 2018 was First Reserve’s $1.5bn private equity deal with Blue Racer Midstream.
In second place was Hahn &’s private equity deal with SK Maritime for $1.35bn and in third place was ArcLight Energy Partners Fund VI’s $1.12bn private equity deal with TransMontaigne Partners.
Blackstone Energy Partners’ $700m private equity deal with Ulterra Drilling Technologies and I Squared Capital’s private equity deal with EagleClaw Midstream Ventures for $500m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
