Offshore Technology Excellence Rankings 2022 – The Verdict
TotalEnergies is a French headquartered multinational integrated energy and petroleum company that is ranked for Business Expansion, Environmental and Investments in the 2022 Offshore Technology Excellence Rankings.
During the research period the company collaborated on low-carbon hydrogen production, developing a carbon capture and storage project in the Normandy industrial basin. It also contributed to establishing the Northern Lights CCS project and signed a sustainability roadmap with other companies in the industry.
Elsewhere TotalEnergies made a significant light oil and associated gas discovery in block 2913B, in the Orange basin, offshore southern Namibia and also made a discovery in Block 58, offshore Suriname drilling the Krabdagu-1 (KBD-1) exploration well, in the central area of Block 58.

The company also agreed to collaborate with a unit of a US-based energy company on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to help reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian energy.
Other significant contracts included winning production sharing contracts (PSC) for two pre-salt oil fields offshore Brazil, and securing approval to develop Iraq’s Ratawi gas field. The company also signed a $7bn Iraq energy deal spanning four projects involving natural gas, solar energy and seawater reprocessing, as well as an additional $27bn in four energy projects in Iraq.
