October 2021 has seen a decrease of 32.85% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 9.92% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 2.4% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 65.24% in October 2021, a 2.89% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.59% in October 2021, marking an 11.39% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 11.65% in October 2021, a 22.08% drop from September 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 42.24% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over previous month.

Royal Dutch Shell posted 161 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered an increase of 111.84% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 69 jobs and a 23.21% growth. Yara International with 51 IT jobs and BASF with 25 jobs, recorded a 15.91% rise and a 31.58% rise, respectively, while PI Industries recorded a 35.14% decline with 24 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 60% share in October 2021, a 7.76% decrease over September 2021. Malaysia featured next with a 9.32% share, up 6.67% over the previous month. China recorded a 7.77% share, a drop of 9.09% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.19%, down by 8.55% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.1% share, registered a decline of 9.88% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.74% share, down 2.17% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.97%, recording a month-on-month growth of 150%.
